Faulty liquid oxygen hose causes small fire

first_img After the blaze was put out, firefighters found that oxygen was still leaking from faulty hoses. Firefighters contacted the manufacturer to get help stabilizing the leak. The tanker was loaded onto a flatbed truck and moved to Woodley Park. There, crews shut down the tanker’s electrical system and eventually deemed the rig safe, Davies said. 160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong. The fire broke out just after midnight at the hospital at 16237 W. Ventura Boulevard, officials said. No injuries were reported. Firefighters knocked out the fire within 15 minutes of arriving to the 12:07 a.m. blaze. The extent of the damages was not immediately available, according to d’Lisa Davies of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Once firefighters arrived, they found a tanker truck, in the process of off-loading liquid oxygen, with a fire in the equipment area. The tanker was loaded with about 560,000 cubic feet of liquified gas. “With a quick knockdown on the fire, the incident was quickly downgraded,” Davies wrote in her report. “With information provided by the driver, the valves to the tanker pump area were shut down.”last_img read more
