Responding to Irish Water’s announcement that it would proceed with an application to An Bord Pleanála, Deputy Nolan stated that “the submission is premature as there are too many gaps in the research and the issue of existing water leaks has not been adequately addressed”. The €1.3 billion scheme proposes to take water from the Parteen basin and use a 170km pipeline to pump it to Dublin and major Midland towns. Antique flights cancelled due to ‘Tisoy’

first_imgThe Antique provincial capitol and other government offices in the province continue to deliver services despite the presence of Typhoon “Tisoy.” Classes in all levels in the province were suspended on Dec. 3. PNA/ANNABEL CONSUELO PETINGLAY Typhoon signal No. 2 was raised in thenorthern municipalities of the province including Barbaza, Tibiao, Culasi,Sebaste, Pandan, Libertad, and Caluya. Train said aside from the suspensionof classes, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines informed thatPhilippine Airlines (PAL) flights were canceled between Clark and Antique dueto the inclement weather. “The province of Antique from Anini-yto Barbaza towns had been placed under typhoon signal No. 1 while the towns ofBarbaza to Caluya under signal number 2,” Train added. Train, however, said governmentoffices in the province were open despite the inclement weather. Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction andManagement officer Broderick Train said the 18 local government units in theprovince decided to suspend classes from preschool to college level on Dec. 3for the safety of the students.      “Government offices are only allowedto suspend its work if it is typhoon signal No. 3,” he added. He said sea travel in the ports ofLibertad, Caluya and Culasi were suspended since Monday. SAN JOSE, Antique – Typhoon “Tisoy”(Kammuri) has forced the suspension of classes in this province and the cancellationof flights between the province and Clark, Pampanga on Tuesday.   PAL, the only air transport flyingClark to Antique airport every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, decided to cancelits flights because of the typhoon. The southern, central and some portionsof northern Antique under typhoon signal No. 1 were Anini-y, Tobias Fornier,Hamtic, San Jose de Buenavista, Sibalom, San Remigio, Belison, Patnongon,Bugasong, Valderrama, and Laua-an. “There is no PAL flight on Tuesday,”he added. “So far there is still no casualtymonitored due to the typhoon,” added Train.(Witha report from PNA/PN)last_img read more
